Pak-China Warrior-VIII Concludes, Highlighting Defense Cooperation and Counter-Terrorism Skills
Pak-China Joint Exercise Warrior-VIII between Pakistan Army and Peoples Liberation Army of China was conducted from 19 November to 11 December 2024.
Three weeks’ long Exercise in Counter Terrorism domain is 8th in the series of bilateral exercises being held annually. Distinguished Visitor’s Day (DVD) Ceremony of the Exercise was conducted at Tilla Field Firing Range on 10 December 2024.
Commander Rawalpindi Corps, Lieutenant General Shahid Imtiaz, HI(M) graced the ceremony as Chief Guest while, Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan along with dignitaries from China were also present. Dignitaries appreciated high standards of professionalism displayed by troops during the Exercise.
Pakistan and China share a robust military partnership, with the two states enjoying longstanding cooperation in defense production, technology and training. China is Pakistan’s largest defense supplier, providing advanced weaponry including fighter jets and submarines to Pakistan. The two nations frequently collaborate through joint military exercises, counter-terrorism efforts and regional security initiatives.
The theme of the exercise was “a joint anti-terrorism elimination and strike operation,” and the drill featured joint mixed training across various levels and specialties. Activities included joint planning and live-force exercises, designed to simulate real-world combat scenarios where Pakistan SSG and PLA Special Forces were be involved.
The Warrior exercise began in 2013. There was a long gap after 2019 due to the pandemic and the postponement of the scheduled exercise in December 2023. The primary objective is to enhance practical exchanges and deepen cooperation between the two-armed forces.
