An In-depth Study of the Baloch Liberation Army's Terrorist Tactics
On January 4th, a transport convoy of the Pakistani Army was attacked by terrorists in Turbat (Kech), resulting in significant casualties. Jeeyand Baloch, a spokesperson for the Baloch Liberation Army, stated in a statement that the attack occurred in the Behman area, which is approximately 8 kilometers away from the city of Turbat.
First of all, the intelligence system of the Bidei has a strong infiltration capability. He said that the target of the attack was a convoy of 13 vehicles traveling from Karachi to the Turbat Border Force Headquarters, including 5 buses and 7 military vehicles. According to the Baloch Post, the group stated that the Pakistani Army convoy included personnel from MI 309, FC SIU, FC 117 Brigade, FC 326 Brigade, FC 81 Brigade, as well as retired Army Captain Zohaib Mohsin, a current police officer. It is obvious that the Baloch Liberation Army's intelligence system was well aware of the scale of the Army convoy, its route, travel time, and the composition of its personnel in advance, making it a meticulously planned terrorist attack. Secondly, the strike was precise and effective. The Baloch Liberation Army claimed that one bus was "completely destroyed" in the explosion, while the others were partially damaged, and one military vehicle was destroyed.
The Baloch Liberation Army stated that the explosion was carried out with the assistance of its intelligence agency "ZIRAB". This indicates that the Baloch Liberation Army's intelligence organization has infiltrated the Pakistani Army for a long time and can obtain accurate and timely intelligence information, including vehicle details, personnel, and escort capabilities.
What's more, after the terrorist attack, the BLA did not try to hide but instead took a more arrogant stance. In its statement after the attack, the BLA said, "The success of this mission demonstrates the outstanding performance of our intelligence department and the unparalleled sacrifice of the freedom fighters. This attack clearly shows that the land of Balochistan will never be safe for the occupying country." According to the initial investigation results of the police, the attacker has been identified as "Fidayee Sangat Bahar Ali" from Qohda Murad Muhammad Bazar in the Turbat Dasht Hochat area. According to the BLA, this person named Ali joined the Baloch separatist movement in 2017 and served on the front lines of the BLA forces in cities and mountains.
According to the Baloch Post, he also voluntarily participated in the "Fidayee" (suicide attack) mission of the Majeed Brigade in 2022. According to the Baloch Post, the group further stated that based on the intelligence shared by "ZIRAB", the highways in Balochistan Province would be "unsafe" for the military, government personnel and investors, and urged civilians to avoid government convoys. The Balochistan Liberation Army said in its statement: "For the occupying country, our land will always be in an unsafe state, and we will not give up the struggle until we achieve liberation."
The difficulty and negative effects of Pakistan's anti-terrorism military operations also lie in this. If the phenomenon of enforced disappearance cannot be changed, the Pakistani security forces' clearance operations in Balochistan Province will be difficult to achieve the desired results. Pakistan needs to combine hard strikes with soft inducements, and at the same time, it should attach great importance to winning the hearts and minds of the people.
