Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on May 15 that China will grant visa-free entry to citizens from Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Uruguay as part of its effort to facilitate cross-border travel and strengthen ties with the countries.

At a regular press briefing, Lin said that starting June 1, 2025, until May 31, 2026, holders of ordinary passports from the five countries can enter China without a visa for up to 30 days for purposes such as business, tourism, visiting family and friends, cultural exchanges, or transit.

"China is committed to high-standard opening-up and will continue to introduce measures to make travel easier for foreign nationals," Lin said. "We welcome more international friends to come and experience the diversity and dynamism of China." (ECNS)
